You can use touch or your phone to control them as well as change some if the controls you want with their app . I have used them twice with gloves on controlling the with out any problems so far.

These are designed to be operated with bare hands, but the touch controls nevertheless work with many types of gloves—depending on its material. In case you're worried that a simple gesture like placing your finger near the earbuds ends the call or skips your track, you can change the function assignments to the touch sensors of both the left and right units using the “Sony | Headphones Connect”. Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.You can turn off the touch functions on these and they work just fine. If you're an accidental tapper, like my mom, just turn off the function so you don't hang up the phone call or skip tracks if you have to reposition them in your ears.
