yes, as long blu tooth is enabled.

It plays on any device with regular audio output. Basically, they are compatible with any MP3, iPod, DVD, or CD players and mobile phones supporting a 3.5mm jack plug. I used them with my voice recorder, old Apple iPod, iphone 6, etc... They seem to sound better on powered devices though, at least it seemed to me as if they did.

I connect mine to an iPhone 6 plus so Im guessing your bluetooth software in your iPod 4 might need to be upgraded.

Yes they are! They are compatible with any bluetooth compatible device. And if it's not compatible you can use 3.5 aux chord
