• Should not be a problem at all. I would not put it in a bucket of water and freeze it.. that may be a problem, but storing in a shed or garage will not effect it at all. After all, you did buy a Sony product...

• The specifications say the maximum ambient temperature for this device is 95F (35C). There is no minimum ambient temperature specified, although you can expect less than the rated 5 hours battery playback at freezing temperatures - a limitation of all lithium batteries.
