It would provide some protection if you’re firing a .22 caliber, but not nearly enough for anything larger. Personally, I wouldn’t use them when firing my 9mm or my sub compact .40 caliber. The noise cancellation on these is more like noise reduction. It’s not eyewear friendly, so safety glasses would be a pain and if you own a rifle and take it to the range, these would just get in your way. They are defiantly not a replacement for range ear protection like the Walker Razor or Howard Leight products. Hope this helps
