Looks like Best Buy re-adjusted the date to August 19th like everyone else so all is well with the world again.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. After going to the store, it seems Best Buy (along with Amazon if you notice) won't be getting the device until September 10th. This is beyond frustrating and Qualcomm, Xiaomi, and Samsung (especially) get the blame for this. Qualcomm for letting these companies buy out WAY more of the processors necessary, Xiaomi for getting Qualcomm to design a pointless SoC like the 860 for ONE market (they did this with the 768 last year), and Samsung because they more than likely got hooked up by Qualcomm since they assembled the 888/888+ architecture which all led to Sony to not gather enough processors for a smoother release.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I placed my order on July 15. Was given the date August 19, then pushed back to August 24. I'm still waiting and best buy support was absolutely no help. I'm hoping to get it soon, but now they are saying probably by October 8. Definitely anything but a smooth launch. Maybe they should've went with the 888+, probably could've had a better launch then.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I believe Sony's free earbuds promotion officially ends 9/26, so it could have something to do with that. Just guessing, but I could see some sleazy customers receiving the phone and earbuds, and then attempting a fraudulent return-and-exchange by saying there's a defect but actually returning a fake set of earbuds (the store or warehouse staff might not catch the difference), so in the end they'd get an extra set of the earbuds. By allowing earbuds promotion pre-orders thru 9/26, but preventing customers getting the product into their hands before 9/26, it is therefore easy starting 9/27 to allow exchanges of the phone itself but prevent any requests for replacement earbuds, being an item for which it'd be harder to catch return fraud. Or maybe some scenario like that.
