Unfortunately T-Mobile VoLTE and Wifi-Calling are unavailable at this time as Sony hasn't certified the XZ2 phones (XZ2 Compact and XZ2) to work on T-Mobile. There is a rumor that the XZ2 might get certification at a later date but that's all speculation at this point. If you're interested in a compact phone and aren't worried about the latest and greatest, the XZ1 Compact is certified to work on T-Mobile and has VoLTE and Wifi-calling enabled.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.No. It does not currently have T-Mobile VoLTE and Wi-Fi Calling support. I spoke with several support people from both Sony and T-Mobile. Sony says it's TMO's fault. TMO says it's Sony's fault. I also spoke with somone from the TMO Office of the president (CEO's special support team) and they believe it will not be coming in the future.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have ATT and they are the ones that control the wifi calling ability. I had to call them and have them turn it on for my iPhone. I have not got around to calling and asking for the same on this one.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. No, it doesn't have wifi calling. Not an option in the menus. That said, all their other premium phones do, so I imagine it will be a feature to come with a future update.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It's not Sony's fault - it's T-Mobile's rather primitive attempt to control your choices for phones, nothing else. They claim the only way to make their wifi/VoLTE features secure if they bake the apps into their firmware but that's obviously BS, these are network-dependent features/apks, cannot work without TMO SIM (and to secure it they could just design the app in a way it'd download a piece every time it's launched.)
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. That is a terrible answer because T-Mobile will say the same thing. In the end, it needs to be mutual, however it should be Sony that has to make the good faith effort to implement VoLTE and Wifi-Calling into their phones. T-Mobile would be limiting themselves and their customers if they denied these features.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. That is up to T-Mobile, not Sony, so ask them. The phone has the basic support, but each carrier must customize its software and SIM card.
