I'll answer my own question since I now have both to compare. In summary the only current downgrade I can find in the L4 from the Lp3 would be the transparency mode. But this can easily be fixed in a firmware update. Overall they are an upgrade for me.

Don't get me wrong, the Liberty 4 are great earbuds, but the LP3 Pro has better sound quality, in my honest opinion. If I were you, I'd wait until the Liberty 4 Pro earbuds come out if you want a true upgrade.
