They go into the ear. They come with multiple sizes of ear-fittings, so I'm sure they will work great for you!

But I'm constantly working, lifting stuff, up down all around at various speeds, and I've never had a single problem with them falling out.

They are pretty secure if you put them in right, and they aren't meant to go deep in your canal; the housing fits in the folds of your ears. That being said, they are pretty secure, but not as much as ear pods with wings or ear loops. I think running is fine, depending upon terrain. If you're hitting a street, you should be good, but if your running on rough terrain is look out. You can buy after market ear tips if you need a more secure option, too.
