“Does this case have the little gripper marks on the back like the other Speck Candyshell cases or is it smooth? I have always liked having the grippers on my old case as it made it feel more secure and not slippery.”

It is smooth and not like the other Speck case....or at least the one I had. I don't find it slippery however
