Yes...the camera lens is totally protected. You can lay the phone down on the back side with no concern for the camera lens. Additionally, on the front, it provides just enough of a lift to keep the face of the phone from touching if you lay it face down on a flat surface.

But you don't have to worry about damaging the lens unless you're dropping diamonds on it. The sapphire lens is almost indestructible. The LED flash unit will break before the lens will. You don't have to worry about damaging the lens. But to answer your question, yes, it'll protect the protruding lens of the iPhone 6/6+
