It doesn't have any feature specifically to prevent overheating. However, if you mount it on your vent and use the A/C - that'll passively cool the iPhone. iPhones also have an overheating failsafe that prevents charging or will even shut down the phone. If you're concerned about overheating, try to place it off the side, out of direct sunlight.
