“Is the hinge loose? I have read that the hinge can feel wobbly and in some cases fail to support over time.. if this happens to be the case would it be covered by warranty since the product is at fault- or is that a wear and tear issue?”

It would be covered by the warranty but I am not sure it would be an issue. The decorative hinge cover may feel differently but the hinge and all the connecting parts are an all metal design.
