• Mine rolls on carpet great but hardwood floors you have to be careful with as once it get some moving it can be tough to stop it.

• Works on carpet too. Just picks up a lot of dust etc.

• it doesn't have to be so smooth surface. It does move on carpeting but not as fast as it goes on tiles or hardwood floor. you can use it outside as well such as streets, grass, etc... When you roll it off the cliff sometimes the head falls off, no worries, its not broken :) just put it back, it has magnets which keep the head and body together.

• It is probably like the Sphero BB-8 droid - it will move on low, tight carpet, but does far better on hard surfaces.
