• There is. Difference between charging your card and authorization- to make sure the card is good. This is typical when you pump gas, rent a hotel etc. The auth happens at time of check in and charge happens when you check out. When I pump gas at the local Safeway, they hold $150 until the charge posts. The auth drops off once the charge is posted. Not surprising with so much credit card fraud.
