• If you want to play online against other people, then yes. There is a 1-player campaign you can do without an online membership

• Yeah you need Nintendo Switch Online to be able to play any online match. There is a single player mode if you want to play that, but that’s about all you can do without a membership.

• In order to play with other people, you must have a Nintendo Switch Online Membership. There is still a campaign mode that does not require a membership.
