“Is this back of freezer supposed to have a wide open and expose the motor and wires?”

• yes all freezers and fridges have a back opening exposing wires and compressor just the way they are made don't know why.

• Along the bottom of the fridge, there is a 9 inch high space that runs the width of the fridge that is open. It helps keep it from over heating. You can see the wires, motor, etc... We left about 4 inches from the wall, it it works fine. This is not uncommon.
