This would depend on entirely where you live what part of the house it’s in etc. I use 3 dehumidifiers now depending on the weather is how they fill .

You can go on a week's vacation and not worry about it. It works but slowly to me. I have only emptied it once since I have had it. Right now it has about 2 inches of water in it and I emptied it over a week ago. I expected to empty it much more.This Spring we have had much more rain than normal but it only takes so much out of the air at one time.

I have had mine plugged in for three weeks now and the tank has only been about half full when I have emptied it. But it has made my closest space dryer.
