It works both ways, but to help you better understand. I hooked up mine with ease. PC = DVI to 4KTV = HDMI.. :0)
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, it will work. I route the video signal from the DVI output on my computer to one of the HDMI inputs on my TV/monitor and the video looks great. It won't route the audio output to the TV/monitor, you'll need to plug some speakers (or headphones) into a 3.5 mm audio output on the computer. I have an Altec Lansing powered speaker system with a large sub-woofer plugged into the computer; I can play MP3 files or You Tube music on the computer and hear the music anywhere in the house. Logitech also makes a nice set of powered speakers, I have a set that I use with my laptop computer when I operate it at home, and a set of USB speakers that I take with me when I travel with the laptop system.

Nearly all TVs will not be able to select an HDMI input and be able to merge sound from a different cable. I believe Newegg has a an audio injector to solve this problem but you are looking at $50 for it. Your best bet for TVs that only accept HDMI is to just use an HDMI to HDMI. Unless you have an external stereo or you could also look at getting a video card for your computer with an HDMI output.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Passive cables like this one are bidirectional, so you can input signal from any end...
