No surround sound in the 3 and I believe no lighting, either.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Arctis3 - Analog connection and No RGB Illumination Arctis5 - USB/Analog connection with RGB illumination Same Mics and Headphone Drivers
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The Arctis 5 includes a USB soundcard, which provides power for RGB illumination on the earcups. It also upgrades from SteelSeries 7.1 to DTS Headphone:X surround sound. The USB soundcard has a dial called ChatMix that lets you adjust the balance between game and chat on the fly.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The 5's have RGB illumination and use a USB instead of analog for the plug in. 3 uses analog with no RGB.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The 3 lacks the RGB lighting and DTS:X. It still is virtual surround 7.1 capable and has the same 40mm sound drivers and mic. Not 100% sure, but fairly certain the mic noise cancelling feature is exclusive to the 5 and 7 since typically most active noise canceling peripherals require the device to be powered by USB, batteries, or some other means. To add to that, certain features of the 5 and 7 are only going to be available to PC users since XBox One users will either plug up to the controller via the headphone jack or using the 2.4Mhz wireless transceiver that comes with the 7. The PC will have a software suite for this headset that also offers access to more feature to allow to customize sound, voice, and aesthetics like the lighting(The 3 and 7 do not have the RGB lighting, only the 5). Don't quote me on this since this headset is so new, but even though the wireless works with the Xbox One, the transceiver almost certainly plugs in to the optical port on the Xbox and you'll still have to plug the headset into the xbox controller to transmit voice chat.
