USB is an acronym for Universal Serial Bus. Universal means it is the standard for most devices and implies this mouse will work with any generation. It does not have usb requirement. But it is a poorly built, over-priced product that falls apart after a year (both my son and I have same feel/pad glue problems now after a year)
