No required charges. You may be able to get some extra reports if you log in on line instead of through the app but I have never looked at that. Everything I am interested in can be viewed in the app on my phone. I can view usage by year, month and day. I can even see how much water was used hourly during a particular day. Note that if you lose internet connection data will not be collected during that time. I have not incurred any monthly fees.
