Hi Mikkis, The short answer is, the Dust Cover is made to keep the SunBriteTV screen clean and dust-free. It is not water-resistant or made to keep the TV dry. However, the good news it that the SunBrite TV itself is water-resistant and fully weatherproof. A cover is optional, but not necessary. One of the advantages of a true Outdoor Television is that you can leave it uncovered without the hassle of uncovering and recovering it each time it's used. Don't try that with an indoor TV though! In fact all SunBriteTVs are designed to be permanently installed outdoors. Their powder-coated aluminum exteriors and weatherproof seals protect internal components from rain, snow, dust, insects, and contaminants.
