Hi there. Thanks for your question. For most folks, the all-weather soundbar will be sufficient for small to medium sized outdoor areas. For larger areas or areas with a significant amount of ambient noise (traffic, etc.), the addition of an amplifier to power additional outdoor speakers (including subs) will always improve even sound distribution and bass.
