I just purchased this tv a month ago and I recall the packaging saying do not lay flat…Not sure if that was just during shipping or not though…I would say no but hopefully someone else will have a better answer for you… Also just in case you are not aware like me, this is not a smart tv so I had to add a fire stick on it to get apps. Other than that it’s an awesome good quality tv.

If you want a retractable mount, we'd recommend a pop-up style one that maintains the TV in a vertical position. Hope this is helpful. Thanks!
