If Canon tells you it is not, then it is not. Why question them? After all, they ARE the manufacturer. The people on the floor at BB are sales people, who are not specialized in the products they sell. This is nothing against the salespeople. The is just the way these big box stores are set up. One day they will be selling cameras. The next day, refrigerators. You HAVE to do your research. At the very least, go to a photography store and talk with those salespeople. They are usually much more experienced and knowledgeable about the equipment.
