A:Answer Absolutely, it works atop the Nikon D500, and links to its controls through contacts in the shoe mount. This flash is incredibly versatile. It takes some time to figure it out, and it IS LARGE, sticking up above the D500, but it has plenty of power, a great distribution of the light, and is well worth the money and the time you will spend experimenting to learn all it can do. I suggest buying Lithium Hydride rechargeable batteries, two sets, to keep things going, if you shoot a lot of pictures requiring full power.
