Hello, Thank you for reaching out to us with your concern. This item does not require to be connected to the internet for the recordings to be saved onto the hard drive. Internet is required when remotely accessing your unit via mobile device/computer. Once heat or motion is detected within the range of the PIR sensor, the camera will begin recording immediately.
