Hi Chris. This NHD-888MSD Dome Camera does have Face Recognition, meaning that when a face is captured in a video on the NVR's hard drive, you have the option to categorize the faces into groups of friends or strangers. You can then program the camera to act a certain way when it recognizes that face again in the future, eg: to record or not. We agree with you that the content on this BestBuy page could be improved to make this more clear, we'll get that organized. -SD, Swann Team
