“I would like to mount this by a driveway gate is the water proof and cold and heat proof? want to mount this on a post facing a automatic gate will this do well out side in the elements. I live in Texas gets 100 hot and 30 cold. and will be in the rain”

It is cold and hot proof to a certain extent just like it is also waterproof. But if you construct a light weight 3 sided box to go over it and help block out the sunlight and help keep the rain off of it you will get a lot more years of great service out of it. Just like you see on the commercial units out there a little hood on it will make a great difference and it makes it a lot clearer to see who ever come into to site of it as far as seeing the faces and the license plate numbers. A little prevention goes a very long way.
