QuestionDoes this have the option of motion activated?

- Answer Yes, the DVR records when motion sets it off, and you can adjust the sensitivity. It will send an e-mail when the motion triggers it. The DVR unit can buzz when motion sets it off. You can set areas in the camera's view that will not set off motion activation as well. An awesome system.

- Answer You may have photos of the thief if you set up the e-mailing capability. You can also set it up so a PC records events as well as the DVR. Best bet, hide the DVR so it doesn't get stolen.

QuestionI would like to mount this by a driveway gate is the water proof and cold and heat proof?want to mount this on a post facing a automatic gate will this do well out side in the elements. I live in Texas gets 100 hot and 30 cold. and will be in the rain

- Answer It is cold and hot proof to a certain extent just like it is also waterproof. But if you construct a light weight 3 sided box to go over it and help block out the sunlight and help keep the rain off of it you will get a lot more years of great service out of it. Just like you see on the commercial units out there a little hood on it will make a great difference and it makes it a lot clearer to see who ever come into to site of it as far as seeing the faces and the license plate numbers. A little prevention goes a very long way.

- Answer For a lower price. The 720P cameras are not as well made, they are plastic. They work well. The resolution is not as good as the cast aluminum 1080P cameras. Plan where you place the better 1080P cameras for best visibility, you will be happy with the system.

- Answer The DVR does record audio , however you need to purchase an external microphone connected to the audio input. Some cameras come with both audio and video outputs.

QuestionIs there an adapter to plug into the Ethernet port to connect this device to my wireless network. I want install base remotely to provide better camera location. I will not be able to run an Ethernet cable to the base.

QuestionAny problem with mixing 720p and 1080 ? I mean do you have to put them in pairs like channel 1&2 for 720 and 3&4 for 1080.

- Answer No, I have just installed all the cameras normally. The installation process like; running the wires and plug the ends into their respective connectors from cameras & DVR; is very easy. I had trouble with the configuration of the app, so I called customer service and their technician guided me thru the process. All the cameras have a nice view and there is not much of a difference between the 1080 and 720 cameras.
