Q: QuestionIs Lorex - 100’ Outdoor Cat6 UL CMR STP Ethernet Cable with UV Treated for Direct Burial, Model: CBL100C6RXU SKU: 6566122 compatible via direct installation with Swann - Master Series 8-Chan 8 Cam, 4K UHD Outdoor PoE Wired 2TB HDD NVR Cam? Please advise.
Asked by Miguel.
- A:Answer Hi Miguel. Yes, it is compatible. The Swann Master Series NVR supports both Cat5e and Cat6 Ethernet cables, so this Lorex Cat6 cable will work for powering and connecting your PoE cameras. Just make sure: 1. The cable is terminated properly with good quality RJ45 connectors. 2. You stay within the 100-meter (300ft) distance limit for PoE. 3. If you use the shielding, proper grounding is recommended to avoid interference. Overall, this cable should work perfectly for your Swann system installation. Mary - Swann Team.

Q: QuestionDo the cameras already come with IP address linked with the nvr?
Asked by Ivanyvienen.
- A:Answer Hi Ivanyvienen. Yes. In most Swann NVR systems, the cameras are automatically assigned an IP address by the NVR itself once they’re connected, so you don’t need to configure them manually. If it’s a PoE (Power over Ethernet) NVR, the cameras typically get their IP addresses from the NVR’s built-in DHCP server, meaning they’re “linked” to it right out of the box. Mary - Swann Team

Q: QuestionHi what's the meaning of power over the ethernet ? Thanks
Asked by Vic.
- A:Answer Hi Vic. The type of cable that connects each camera to the NVR box is called an Ethernet cable. This cable can carry both video and power over the same stretch of cable, hence ‘Power over Ethernet’. It can make the installation simpler as each camera just needs one cable going into it, and the NVR box delivers the power to each camera. -SD, Swann Team

Q: QuestionDoes each camera have to have its own elec receptacle or do all of the cameras hook to a cat 5 or cat 6 wire
Asked by jones.
This question was asked about the related product: Swann - Master Series Home 16-Channel 16-Camera 4K HD Indoor/Outdoor PoE Wired 2TB HDD NVR Security Surveillance System - Black
- A:Answer Hello jones. This NVR system comes with PoE (Power over Ethernet) cameras which receive power and data through a single Ethernet cable. This eliminates the need for a separate power source, as the cable connects directly to a PoE switch or NVR that supplies power. This setup simplifies installation and reduces cable clutter. Q: QuestionIf all 16 cameras are set to 24/7 recording at 4k, approximately how many hours/days can 2tb card hold? Also, Is this unit set to record with h.265
Asked by MelD.
This question was asked about the related product: Swann - Master Series Home 16-Channel 16-Camera 4K HD Indoor/Outdoor PoE Wired 2TB HDD NVR Security Surveillance System - Black
- A:Answer Hello MelD.If you were to record 24/7 from all 16 cameras onto the 2TB hard drive, you'd have about 1-2 days of recording capacity. Once the hard drive is full, the oldest footage will automatically be overwritten by new recordings. We usually recommend setting cameras to record based on motion detection, as continuous recording can result in hours of unnecessary footage. However, you can mix and match settings based on your preference—for example, you can set one camera to record 24/7 and the others to record only when motion is detected. Yes, the video encode type is set by default to H.265. I hope this helps. LV - Swann Team

Q: QuestionI have a 8 camera Swann SRDVR-88075H. What is the best Swann replacement?
Asked by RAY.
- A:Answer Hi Ray. The DVR8-8075 model is very old now and has long been discontinued (it was last manufactured around 8-9 years ago). I would recommend looking at an NVR system these days as the price has come down considerably over the years and they offer a wide range of features and the network cables make them easier to install compared to DVR systems. If you'd like a more affordable 4K option then this Master Series NVR you've posted this question on is a good option. If you'd like something with more features, metal camera cases etc then Swann also offer more premium 4K and 6K options too. -SD, Swann Team
