Anytime the suns up there will be charging but not as much as you get on clear sunny days. I’ve had mine about a month with 90 % of the time clouds or snow and have had no problems.

Swann recommends maximizing battery life by reducing motion sensitivity settings, angling the camera for fewer false triggers, and setting shorter clip durations, on cloudy days if you are concerned about power issues. Keep in mind that even if you didn't connect any solar panel at all & the camera didn't get any sunlight on its built-in panel, the battery inside the MaxRanger camera should last 2-3 months in normal use.
