There have been many rumors that this edition will be returning but nobody is sure as to when! :( Nintendo has confirmed that this is not Limited Edition. As it is not Limited Edition it is Special Edition. (As for the protection plan I have never had a switch so I'm so sorry but I have no clue whether to use the protection plan or not!) In my personal opinion, I think you'll do better off with a screen protector as well as a protector for your switch! If there seems to be any problem im sure you'll be able to go straight into your local Best Buy Store and get it fixed or get it replaced. <3 I hope I could help!
