I have two four yr old grandson's and I bought them each one, they have so much fun playing all the Lego games for Nintendo switch and Mario games, they have a monster truck game that is fun. You can find lots of games for a four year old and you can also join the fun. Your 8 yr old will for sure love it. I check online and do web search for games and make sure they are non violent. Hope this helps.
