The new Nintendo Switch has a model code that starts with HAD and a model number of HAC-001 (-01): -HADSKABAA for the model with the blue and red Joy-Con controllers -HADSKAAAA for the model with grey Joy-Con controllers The original Nintendo Switch models start with the letters HAC and a model number of HAC-001. As long as the specs section lists a model of "HAD" (vs "HAC") you know it's the newer version 2.
