“When using the hdmi to an external monitor or projector, is there anyway to use external speakers as well?”

• There is a headphone out jack that you could use with some types of external speakers that use a 3.5mm miniplug connection. There is only one HDMI out, though, so if you wanted to send sound through the HDMI connection to external speakers while also sending the video to an external monitor, you'd need an HDMI splitter.

• I don't have a HDMI attached to my player. I only know of such equipment for TVs and some computers like HP. (I use it on my flights with ear plugs. I do not want to disturb my seat mates. Caring and kindness go a long way on a flight six or more hours.)
