I just bought one today. And it works. Doesn't look as good as my cable, but I knew that. So far OK. Decent bargain if you're looking for a backup, or you don't have access to HD A lot of really great stuff is only on DVD, and all the fancy new players won't make it look any better.

However this was the price for cyber Monday and I went to buy it on Tuesday, the day after. The price that day was $24.99. They didn't have it in stock even though the website said it was in stock. It was ordered for me that day and delivered a week later
