T-mobile now has a no contract monthly plan so you can stop using it anytime you wish. I think that can be a good idea for you

You can use any plan with this phone. You are actually buying the phone with no contract and not the service plan.

I use mine with Consumer Cellular, so its a pay by the month, no problem. Just wish I hadn't bought it since I can't send or receive text with pictures.
