• Yes, that is correct, you buy it, insert it into your phone, then go online to activate it, all the instructions came with the sim card. Just make sure that you are buying the correct size of sim card for your phone. There are 3 sizes, regular, micro and nano. You need the specific size for your phone.

• In a sense, yes. A phone number is tied to the SIM card so if you swap out the SIM card you would get a different number. You'd need to talk to your carrier to make sure that there is a phone number associated with that particular SIM card.
