Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The difference is the number of tuners the unit has. 139 gets you double the amount of tuners , 99 is for 2 tuners and 139 is for 4. The Tuner is the part of the unit that actually tunes into a specific channel. And 4 is much better.

For instance, if you have 2 tuners, you could watch a show while recording another or two people could be watching two live shows at once. The 4 tuner, on the other hand, would allow you to record 4 shows all at the same time, watch 4 live shows all at the same time or any mix between the two. Hope this helps.
