I have a Canon M5 and both the 16-300mm and 18-400mm and each works as it should. The AF does hunt a little from time to time with each, but have not had any issues of it not working at all. I don't know if the M3 connection is different. Is your adapter made by Canon? I initially got one that was not by Canon and it seemed loose. I then got a Canon adapter and it is almost like connecting the lens directly to the camera since it is a tight fit. If you have the opportunity, take your camera and try the lens before buying. Just a thought.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Hi Daykinski, I not sure for M3, I use it for 80D, that's good fit. I love this Lens.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It is probably a limitation of the adaptor and not the lense. Check with the manufacturer of the adaptor to confirm compatibility with lenses.
