A solid purchase
||Posted .This is my first glass purchase, moving away from the kit lenses. And I am so happy with my decision too. It is super quiet in AF, which is pretty quick to do. A bit sensitive, so you may need to go MF if there is a lot of clutter in front of your subject. The telephoto is quite impressive, while the macro is pretty good too. I'm so happy with this lens that I will have plenty of time before wanting to get my next big lens.

Tamron 18-400mm All-in-One Lens for Canon
||Posted .I love to hike and take pictures. One of the biggest things I don't like about that is having to carry multiple lenses. Changing lenses in a less that perfect environment and perhaps missing that perfect shot because you don't have the right lens attached. The Tamron lens is a near perfect solution for that. 18mm for the landscape pictures and 400mm to get up an close. And a whole range of options in between. I have only had it a few weeks, but I love it. Fast focus, nice crisp, clean images. No hassle with constantly changing out lenses. Good image stabilization if you're hand shooting. The only con, it's not bad, but the lens sometimes struggles a little with focus at 400mm, but if you're shooting long you'll probably be using a tripod and manually focusing anyway. I would highly recommend this lens!

Good lens at an affordable price
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed.I already had a 600 mm Sigma lens, but it is very heavy and requires a tripod for many shots. I decided to buy this 400 mm lens (forgoing 200 mm focal length for a lighter lens). While it is less heavy, it isn't exactly light. I do get a camera shake icon on some shots. However, I have been able to obtain adequate photos without needing a tripod as often. I've included a photo I took on this cloudy, overcast evening (without a tripod). The settings were f/6.3, shutter 1/2000 seconds, ISO 800, focal length 300 mm. I never would have been able to capture the shot with my 600 mm lens. I am pleased with my purchase. I would recommend it to others who want a decent lens without spending a fortune.

Good Everday Lens
||Posted .I wasn't too happy with this lens when first purchased and almost returned it, as everything I shot was soft, but between DPP 4.3 and Photoshop I am now getting sharp photos. It is a bit heavy and I find holding it steady at longer zooms to be a bit challenging but this too can be overcome. As I have used this lens and learned its quirks my photos have gotten better. It is a capable, versatile lens that has a lot to offer, so I would recommend it. Be sure to give yourself time to adjust to using it before making any judgement calls Please don't rely on the thumbnails to make any judgements on the quality of photos with this lens.

Tamron 18-400mm lens
||Posted .So far I am really happy with this lens. I use it on my Canon 60D and my Sony A6000 with an adapter. At 400 mm it needs to be tripod mounted but I expected that. It's fairly heavy but pulls in far away subjects very well. It will prove to be a great carry around lens because of the focal lengths. Looking forward to more shots with it! I added a couple images to show what a great job it does in the widest and zoomed in mode. Both images taken with the Canon.

A Lot of Lens
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed.Grabbed this lens a few days before leaving for a transpacific cruise from Tokyo across to Vancouver. As a previous Tamron owner, I expected a good experience with this long reach, and, except for one problem, was very pleased with the results. When I can let it go for warranty service, Tamron will fix a binding issue whike zooming through 50 to 60%. IF it bothers me enough to send it in. I have six years...

Q: QuestionWill this lens work on my EOS 5D Mark III?
Asked by Cami.
- A:Answer I have the same camera, but I have problems with black edges on photos. I first thought it was because of the lens hood, so I took it off but still have those dark edges. I am returning the lens today. I dont want to return it, because no one else has a lens with that reach, but I cant use it and have to crop out the edges of every single photo. Hope this helps. (I have posted a photo showing what I am talking about)

Q: QuestionI'm looking for an affordable lense that can get me closer pics of wildlife. Currently I own a 55-250mm lense. Would I notice a big difference with this lense?
Asked by kansasfreak.
- A:Answer I think you will. I used the 18 x 270 for years, bought it when it first came out. For me, I feel the difference is significant. It is like having a 640mm lens. I am very pleased with it. A little heavier, of course, but I highly recommend the lens. I am lazy and don't like changing my lens. This has been my salvation. Tamron is a great product for me.

Q: QuestionI have a Canon Mark 5D III camera and just got a Tamron 400mm lens. When I shoot the photo, it crops the outside of the picture. Am I doing something wrong or is this the way it is supposed to be?
Asked by Colleen.
- A:Answer This lens, the 18-400mm Tamron was made for crop sensors, not full frame.

Q: QuestionHas anyone used this lens for sports photography or to capture other action shots rather than stills?
Asked by Nort.
- A:Answer I was very pleased with the results I shot at several Spring Training baseball games in Florida. Great zoom capability, fine sharpness on subjects (with the additional screening at most parks, most of my work was with the autofocus turned off. It also produced good, sharp results inside nightclubs and theaters where I shoot concerts.

Q: QuestionIs this lens compatible with Canon EOS Rebel T6s? Does it have image stabilization? What is return policy if I am not happy with it?
Asked by Tamron18400mm.
- A:Answer This is an APS-C lens, designed for APC-C cameras with an EF-S mount. The Canon T6s fits those criteria. I have a T6s and the Mark 7D II, this lens works fine with both cameras. It has VC, Vibration Compensation, which is Tamron's version of image stabilization.
