The Nikon version mount will mount on your D5600, however, for action sports, you will need good daylight so that your shutter speed can be fast(est) with some depth of field, as the F-stops don't enable "fast" in dim light. You can test the auto-focus speed, but I suggest camera be mounted on a mono-pod and switch to manual focus with Tamron's version of vibration control ON, that way there will be no focus delays, I have done this for soccer and have gotten publishable images, all this is instead of buying a $2000+ lens.
