• It would depend on the distance you are from the events also they would have to be during daylight hours,the lens is not fast enough for low light photography.

• I have used this lens with a Nikon D5200 to take pictures of soccer games and found it does a pretty good job up to the limitations of the camera. Track meets should pose no problem I like the performance of the lens
