Don't buy the more expensive Targus cooling pad with 4 port USB Hub. I did and it worked 'okay' then quit after 2 weeks. The fans would suddenly shut down and emit a very loud noise. Finally stopped altogether. huge waste of money. I replaced it with the Targus 17 inch cooling pad, no USB ports, less expensive but so far its working and its QUIET. I would have preferred another brand but this was all I could find in a hurry.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I just bought the space saving 17 inch cooling pad from targus. It works much better than the dual fan cooling pad by targus for 17 inch laptops. If you can get a cooling pad that opens up and tilts the laptop at an angle that is better because you need space for the hot air to escape. The more open air space below the laptop the better. A small enclosed cooling pad with small vents on the side only just doesnt work as well. The one I suggested still fits in my laptop bag for a 17 inch laptop since I was concerned about being able to take it with me on trips and I did not want one that blows air downward since it would sit on my lap
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Actually I would think twice about the Targus Dual fan. I have a 17" gaming laptop and while it fits well on the Targus, the mat itself does not move much air. My internal fans where having to spin up much faster to compensate.

I personally am a 'fan' of the targus dual fan---and you do want the 17" size so the fan hits the right areas. Please be aware, though, that the fan won't necessarily keep your laptop cool--but it will definitely help keep it from overheating. Finally, it might not be a bad idea to have a techie (Geek Squad does wonders) take a look at the software of your computer and see if they can't free some of its running power up. As we use the computers, more and more programs start initiating themselves in the background for a variety of reasons, Geek Squad can help with turning many of those programs back off. This will free up your computer's processing power, helping it feel like it did fresh out of the box--and on top of that when your computer isn't working so hard it might not heat up quite so much either! good luck!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I use the dual fan one with my MacBook Pro, which gets hot when doing heavy tasks, this cooler has made a huge difference in how hot the laptop gets. I would recommend.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. There are many differences between the units. Some have lights on them, some have the fan vents on the side. The more air flow you can get the better. I'm using a Targus with the vents on the side so I can use it on my lap and still have air flow. I'm not really recommending one at this time due to the fact that I don't know if you have the laptop on a vented stand or not. Look at the amount of usb ports you have in use, should you go with a powered hub to run everything connected to the laptop to lower the power draw on the laptop? Does the laptop feel like there is air blowing from the side vents? Canned air may help also to clear the air passages. My apologies for asking so many questions but it may help in the long run. Please let us know what you decide to use or what works best for your application
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I use my chill mat on my HP 17 inch DV7-3085dx gaming laptop. Works great. I have never used any other so I can't do a comparison for you.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I don't know anything about other chill mats but this one is pretty weak.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It has continued working for me, no problem. Hasn't quit yet!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. Not having the ability to test other units I don't know how this one would stack up. But I would say there are probably ones out there that cool better.
