It is magnetic. It appears to be some sort of rubberized plastic (stiff like plastic but with some give like rubber). Whether it is built as 1 piece or not I don't know/care, but it is 1 piece for the consumer.

Magnetic. The outside feels like a soft rubber. It slides into my bag easily though.
