Hi Coffee, It does not use a touch screen, When you first turn on the new tv it will have a program that you have to go threw.You have to go to the tv and put the address that the tv gives you into your home computer, the computor will then give you a code to put back in the tv along with your password that you have to make up.You have to do that for each channel you add. As far as using an external keyboard,you may be able to use one only after you have the channels programed in and just use it to find tv movies.It would have to be with USB cable. I am not sure about that, because I have not tried it myself. I hope that helps you.
