“Is there any way to connect a soundbar so that you can use both the tv speakers and the soundbar at the same time? Won't work with optical cable at all and when I use the headphone jack it it turns the tv speakers off. Soundbar does not have hdmi input.”

I worked around this by plugging wireless headphones into the audio output of the cable box. Might or might not be applicable to your case.

It is possible to do this with the optical connection, but is not recommended. Hope this helps, TCL Customer Support
