Hello LinMA, Great question, if you do not want to use any smart features and connect external devices to the TV you can. By not connecting to the internet you can bypass the smart features of the TV which are meant to enhance your viewing experience. You can do this simply by selecting "Connect to internet Later" when being asked to connect to a network. Hope this helps, TCL Customer Support
