To be honest, you must have a high-definition cable box to take advantage of the 1080p Cable picture. For 4k quality you must use streaming services such as Hulu/Netflix/HBO/YouTube, Or watch through a PS4/5 &/or Xbox One for your movies trust me. You always can receive 4k picture that way. The best picture setting for a non-high definition box would be; Smart HDR mode, High-dynamic color contrast, and 45% Color Saturation with Cold Temperature and Native color space, Lastly have Sharpness at 100% and Brightness at 57% (ALL OF THIS IS IN ADVANCED SETTINGS ON THE TOP CORNER OF THE REMOTE). This is what I found through all the trial and error. Hopefully that helps with ur picture quality. Owned the TV for a month now and I love it.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The "soap opera effect" is typically due to interpolation. This TV does not feature interpolation. Hope this helps! Thank you, TCL Customer Support
